Denise Mitchell

Denise Mitchell is a Brooklyn-born writer and consultant who has been based in London since 2014. She has published articles and essays under her pen name Deeda Mitchell; however, she is literary genre agnostic. Her writing is inspired by her experiences as an outsider and transcends the borders of race, class, and nationality.

Denise began writing her first novel at the age of 8, and she is currently working on a compilation of interwoven short stories spanning the United States and Europe.

Denise honed her writing ability at Howard University, where she earned a Bachelor's degree in English. Additionally, she received a Master of Public Administration dual-degree from Columbia University and the London School of Economics and Political Science. Her graduate education in public policy informs both her fiction and nonfiction writing as it has provided keen insight to the social, economic, and political factors that drive societal issues and impact her subject's everyday existence.

Outside of her day job of Consulting and her night job of writing, Denise is a strong advocate of public service and community building, volunteering with a number of organisations that aid underserved communities.
